COMMENTARY
As a young boy it was my great pleasure to steal away to some hidden tuft of grass and lie on my back and watch the clouds pass over. I spent many happy moments in my Georgia home whiling away the time. Sometimes the clouds formed imaginary angels, happy birds, ships to sail me away to adventure, or a thousand other delightful fantasies.
As I grow older, time passes still, but continues to grow more precious to me. God calls us to slow down our pace and enjoy His gifts from creation. This is especially true since the earth is full of His glory and all nature bespeaks of His greatness.
Although this poem does not mention the name of God, it is obvious to me as its author, that He has graciously given me eyes to see the eternal beyond. Now, secure in God’s “forever,” I proceed to enjoy life in peaceful patience as,
I watch as spiders spin their webs,
And herbs come forth in spring.
With patient yearning in my heart,
I cherish everything.
