O breathe upon me, breath of God – Graphic Print

COMMENTARY

When a Christian is at his lowest point, filled with sadness or when they are the recipient of bad news, God shines the brightest!  He is a very present help in trouble.  (Psalm 46:1b KJV)  It seems that God has this wonderful idea to breathe on us.  That is, He inspires us with thoughts of encouragement and blessings when we would least expect it to come our way.  As I think back upon my life with the Lord, this has been the case repeatedly.  God will come to me and breathe on me and refresh me with great comfort. The saddening element is produced through the thought of life’s meaning.  We think of negative things and when we do those thoughts tend to assert rule over us.  As we walk with the Lord and breathe His breath, He takes the stale away, of evil plans and hurtful words, and wounds that cloud my day.

It is important to desire the breath of God upon us–– even to request it from the Lord.  As we wait upon Him He can come

And fill my mind with holy thoughts,

By sacred love inspire;

And deep within my soul of soul,

Come kindle heaven’s fire.

Truly we desire His breath upon us so that we too may inhale, or breathe in His goodness.
