I Love The Way The Flowers Smell – Graphic Print

COMMENTARY

The opening phrase of this poem repeated itself for weeks in my mind.  The rime scheme is different from most of my other poems.  Each line rimes and makes a powerful statement about how flowers can heal relationships that are strained or broken.  Their aroma and beauty reminds the person receiving them of the sweetness of a former act of closeness of the past.  They also remind us of the inviting fragrance of God’s love to our hearts.  As one breathes in the sweet air of the flower, their enjoyment helps to push out hurts and other offensive thoughts, helping the person relate the aroma to the offending person instead of anger and resentment.  Flowers truly can work miracles in healing relationships.
