In this world of trials and tribulations it is very easy to fall into a trap of focusing our attention almost entirely on ourselves. Life can be so painful and shocking that Christians everywhere are in desperate straits. At times we are mere survivors in a world full of evil and assaults from hell. This message proposes a radically different approach and mindset for the Christian. Suppose we directed ourselves away from our many troubles, and instead, we decided to “look on the the needs of others, considering them more important than ourselves.” This truly captures the mind and heart of the Lord Jesus Christ. He plainly tells us that it is more important to give than to receive. Our focus on reaching out to help others and reaching up to God in heaven with praise and adoration is the fullest and most direct command of God that we are challenged to obey.
